Refund Policy
Last updated: 10 September 2026
Open Seat is free to play. The only things you can buy are cosmetic items, and they are delivered to your account straight away. Because of that, purchases are generally non-refundable — but this policy does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and we will always put right a charge that was made in error or an item that was not delivered.
1.What you can buy
Cosmetic items only — avatar clothing and accessories, card backs, table felts, chip designs, and (where offered) a one-time custom avatar. Items are decorative and do not affect gameplay. There are no subscriptions and you cannot buy virtual chips.
2.Immediate delivery and your right to change your mind
Cosmetic items are digital goods delivered to your account immediately after payment is confirmed. By completing a purchase you ask us to supply the item straight away and you acknowledge that, once it has been delivered to your account, you lose any "cooling-off" or change-of-mind cancellation right that might otherwise apply. We do not provide refunds for change of mind.
3.When we will give a refund
We will refund or re-supply a purchase if any of the following apply:
- you were charged but the item was not added to your account;
- you were charged more than once for the same item, or charged an incorrect amount;
- the item is materially not as described, or is faulty and we cannot fix it within a reasonable time;
- the charge was not authorised by you (please also contact your bank);
- a refund is required under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
4.Your Australian Consumer Law rights
Our digital products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If a product has a major failure you are entitled to a refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure is not major, you are entitled to have the problem fixed within a reasonable time, and if that is not done, to a refund. Nothing in this policy or our Terms of Service limits those rights.
5.How to request a refund
- Email hello@openseat.com.au with the subject "Refund request".
- Include the account email, the item name, the date of purchase, and the Stripe receipt or transaction ID.
- Tell us briefly what went wrong.
Please contact us within 30 days of the charge where possible. We will still consider requests made under the Australian Consumer Law after that time.
6.How refunds are processed
We aim to review refund requests within 5 business days. Approved refunds are made through Stripe to your original payment method. Your bank or card issuer may take a further 5–10 business days to show the funds. If a refunded item was in your account, it will be removed.
7.Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is wrong, please contact us first — we can usually resolve it faster than a bank dispute. Filing a chargeback for a purchase you made and received may result in your account being suspended pending review.
